Central Western VA Mountains | Have you ever wore out a chainsaw - farm duty and firewood?
My Dad had a Homelite Super XL, he cut a ton of firewood with it over the years, bought it new. It’s still here and still runs. Late in life, he upgraded to a Stihl 180 for a lighter, easier to handle and safer chainsaw. It’s still here and still runs.
My first chainsaw was a lowly/used McCulloch PM 610. I sold it to buy a new Stihl 038 AVS Farmboss. Have a Stihl MS250. These chainsaws have cut a ton wood over the years. The Stihl’s are still runners.
Only things changed on the Stihl’s have been air filters, bar and chains. My Dad’s old Homelite got the same and new fuel lines.
Chainsaws and firewood cutting/burning has become a hobby for me over the last several years and I’ve got a mix of new and old chainsaws.
It seems amongst our family members, we really never wore out a chainsaw, but evolved to better weight, ergonomics, safer and lighter weight chainsaws.
Question - have you ever wore out a chainsaw cutting firewood and/or with farm chores.
Just curious - Thanks! |
