Allis was involved in a lot of things that many do not realize. Railroads, nuc plants, power distribution, jet and turbine engines.


Hydrogen fuel cells, Large Ocean Going Diesel engines, military vehicles...the list goes on.

IH was also involved in a TON of other industries through subsidiaries, but at their height in the 30's and 40's AC was bigger than many companies we consider global leaders today, compared to their contemporaries at least.

Deere has been around longer, but their history isn't nearly as "colorful" as some of the other brands that once were . It's interesting reading a lot of the books written about those old companies.

Fairbanks-Morse is another one that is neat to look at everything they built. I have a catalog from 1908 that is literally 3" thick with everything from engines to windmills, tooling, pumps, gauges, etc.
