CNY | I have 12 cows due to calve in May. Also about 15 feeders and replacement heifers. Right now they are on a concrete lot, with access to bedded pack barns. They are split, cows apart from feeders. I give the feeders grain 2x a day and both groups get hay/baleage and share a water bowl.
I have about 25 acres of pasture I rotationally graze. I would like to have them all in one group, would make managing the grazing much easier. But I would still like to give the feeders grain every day in the summer, but not the cows. Any ideas how to do this? Only thing I can think of is putting in a row of headlocks and then I can lock them and grain the ones I want. But that doesn't seem ideal.
Thoughts? Thanks | |
