| For weird lifting and or need for jack stands on our lift, I have a piece of 12" channel iron that I lay on the rails between the ramps.
It gives me a huge area to place jack stands, jacks or whatever I need, then I just store it off to the side when done.
I would check it's bending strength online before I put a full 6,000# on it in it's center, but a few thousand I wouldn't even blink to put on it and I have successfully.
That being said, for as convenient as our rolling jacks have proven to be, I would NEVER want to be without them.
If you spent the money, time an effort to get a nice 4 post lift, why make it harder to use? Yes, it may be a few thousand dollar investment, but what is safety and convenience worth.
The two we have on our lift make it extremely versatile.
And safe. | |
