North of London | Interesting history on seatbelts.
Not sure the age of my uncles station wagon but expect it would have been no older that a '55 model and probably a GM product
My first car was a 53 Studebaker no seat belts
Wife had a '64 pontiac when we married no seat belts and my '61 or 62 pickup did not have belts.
I do know the early 70ies pickup had belts and we used them to hold a childs seat for our son.
Some of the first vehicles with belts had only 2 lap belts in front if i remember correctly
Not sure when they were made mandatory to buckle up in Ontario but we were in the habit of using the before that because it was a good excuse to keep the kids 'tied down' when we were travelling by then | |
