| 1: There are NO "illegitimate reasons" when it comes to our children. Period. Tyrants "decide" what is legit or not when it comes to other people's thoughts. Good parents will offer to sit down with the kid(s) and try to understand what the problem is will do ANYTHING to correct it, whether they think it is legit or not. But good parents rarely have to go through something like that in the first place.
2: Again, who are you (just as an example, not saying you specifically) to "decide" if they have a spending problem? Tyrants do. They are my way or the highway.

4: That is very true. But don't forget that people who see flaws may have that ability because they have been the victim of it. And TRUST ME, if you have you would have no problem whatsoever lecturing others about it.
