must have gotten scared away, i dont see any listings anymore. how the heck can a big operation like that not only get away with selling stolen stuff but have the balls to create new profiles on here to sell the stolen stuff?

how can an operation like that exist and keep existing. is this a realm of crime that doesn't ever get prosecuted?

few years ago i bought a fully unlocked tmx and it scared the hell out of me, the seller was reputable on here but what if they got ripped off. they even thought it was a bit odd but we checked with trimble on the unlocks and it was legit. i cant imagine getting a device and it being determined stolen and not functional. i always thought that securing a device with a built in gps receiver should be very simple but the manufacturer would have to be on board obviously and sometimes its not as simple as this device as stolen, go find it. there would be circumstances where one guy would say he paid the guy and the other guy said he didn't. i could see how they wouldn't want to deal with that.

i guess in the end what we learned again, a shiny new profile with no posts usually means a scam.

I'm not sure how it ends up working out in the end.
The device is generally required to be sent to the manufacturer, but when it comes to that I have them talk to the customer directly, my only option as a dealer employee at that point is to quote them a replacement, anything beyond that is between them and the OEM.

It depends on the hardware as to how easy it is to identify. If you have a receiver with no communications radio, there's nothing identifying it where anyone can really track it since it's just receiving signals from GPS, as soon as you connect a radio or cellular signal they can see it and send a shutdown to it.
