im planning a trip thru Utah this spring and would like to drag my sxs behind my fifth wheel any hassels from law enforcement on double towing in your experience
I have only made two trips to Mesa from Iowa and I have not had any problems. I have driven past parked highway patrolmen and DOT officers and they never bothered me. I did purchase a shorter trailer, so I was under 65' and I think all of the states I drove through allow double towing. Some states do not, but I think they are mostly out east.
AI copy and paste below.
"Many states, particularly in the West and Midwest (like Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Utah) and some Southern states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee), allow double towing (often called "triple towing" when including the RV) for recreational vehicles, though specific rules on length (often around 75 ft total), trailer type (e.g., 5th wheel hitch for the first trailer), and endorsements vary by state. The East Coast generally prohibits it, with Maryland being a notable exception. " |
