I am sure you have seen my remark about tyrants in my previous post in this thread.

You make claims in this post how:

1: Your daughter was "turned against you" by her husband. While I am sure that can and has happened for no good reason, more often than not there are very legitimate reasons for kids turning against parents.

2: You state that the wife's kids have a terrible spending problem. According to whom? You? So, anyone who doesn't live the way you do have a problem and are not worthy. Got it.

3: Another remark about her kids "living beyond their means" and how she doesn't want to "reward that behavior". You state that the two of you live very frugally. Maybe the kids don't want to live in homes that are kept at 55 degrees in the winter, eat only beans and rice, wear clothing until it falls off, or whatever you two consider "frugal" and worthy of reward.

4: You claim you are not tyrants. See numbers 1 through 3 above. Think about it and prove my previous assertion wrong that you will not be able to come to terms with the fact that you indeed are. Tyrants are not just limited to say, physical or verbal abuse. It comes in many forms.

Sorry to be blunt, but your own words expose the truth in this matter. I pray that being hit between the eyes with this will allow you to reevaluate your behavior and there is time left for your family to heal before it is too late.

Unless you personally know the guy and his kids, your post is completely unfounded and you are in no position to pontificate about the truth.

1. For every kid that resents their parents for legitimate reasons, there’s at least one that resents their parents for illegitimate reasons.

2. Maybe the kids really do have a spending problem. Everyone from bank tellers to Dave Ramsey knows there are a lot of those people in our society.

3. Maybe they are living beyond their means. See #2, the two are related and again, there are a lot of those people.

4. People see their own flaws in other people. You probably should look hard in a mirror before lecturing someone on being a tyrant.

Re-read your own last paragraph until it hits you.
