Subject: RE: 20/20 and new iPad

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Apparently the communications between the two is done wirelessly via a Soft Access Point or Bluetooth.

That is how my iPad running Ag Finiti and my InCommand communicate. The only reason the iPad needs to be plugged into a USB port is to keep its battery charged. The data itself is transferred from the InCommand to the iPad through a soft Access Point. The word "soft" is used since the Internet is not needed or involved. The two devices "talk" between themselves directly wirelessy. This means they need to be somewhat close to each other.

I have two cameras that use this idea also. The camera transmits its image to a Soft Access Point in my IOS or Android devices. Then an App allows me to view the action. No internet is involved but the camera and the viewer need to be reasonably close to each other.

I have played around and built some other devices that use the Soft Access Point idea. I can use my IOS or Android devices to communicate with a circuit board on the outside of my shop and another on the outside of an older shed. If I am reasonably close to the buildings, I can check on the WiFi choices that are available on my IOS or Android devices. There is one for "old shed" and another for "shop". I chose the one I wish to work with and launch an App which allows me to Open, Close or Stop my door openers.

All this means that I have several Soft Access points as well as "regular" Access Points where the Internet is involved. If I stand in the middle of my dooryard and the various devices are ON, my WiFi list might show a Soft Access Point for the Shop door opener, the Shed door opener, the cameras, the InCommand in the combine and also my home router and WiFi extenders. This may seem overly complex but actually works out very well.
