sorry you feel that way just because they don't wa nt to farm is not a reason to cut them out. how about some stipulation to keep but rent to a younger person with option to buy in a certain about of years
I took the frequency of the word “ungrateful” in the original post as the reason they might be left out.
I saw the same thing, but it wouldn't be the first time a child was considered "ungrateful" just because they didn't want to carry on a parent's farming legacy. I don't know enough to know which of you two Bens are reading the OP correctly though.
As to the OP's question. If your heirs aren't interested in taking over the business, there's no reason for you to be obligated to hang onto it past retirement if you don't want to. If you are interested in helping someone else get started there's merit to finding someone and selling on contract with agreeable terms.
