Marcellus, Mi | We didn't have to reduce numbers as square footage was not part of Michigan's law. (One thing they got right) We actually picked up some space from eliminating the common back alley of the crates.
As for electronic feeding I wanted to eliminate any equipment problem that may break down or cause to miss being fed. I've had some gilts I've had to train how to drink out of nipple water in the farrowing and I sure don't have time to train one to eat out of an electronic feed station.
I kicked around other idea before settling on this one. This option was the least cost and seems to work well.p | |
