S Illinois | Getting grain to move with free DP would really depend on the alternative delivery point options. Few alternative delivery options or all alternative delivery locations having similar basis is likely to get a little grain pulled in. But free DP from the producers prospective is really only a viable option if they have a lack of grain storage space or logistics(hauling while the weather is nice or labor is plentiful)matter more than cash flow as I am not aware of places that advance on DP bushels.
Any road posting or upcoming weather issues locally? Sounds like that elevator just doesn’t have the basis bid to sell into on the backend to source grain by upping their basis and are turning to their last real option to get grain to move. | |
