Around here, a lot of 28 goes on side dress. Plus a lot of houses around so that shapes that. I'm all no-til/cover crops. Ams gets spread before planting, 10-15 gal of 28 at planting, rest side dress. I just dribble on the side dress, can go though some pretty wet soils if need be.
