| There's reasons I personally wouldn't do it, but if I wanted to maximize profit, I'd have a hog confinement, with organic crops surrounding it. Dragline and knife in the hog confinement manure into the organic fields, then either have non organic acres for feeding the livestock, or buy the corn. There has to be a corporation that does this. I used to do certified organic corn/soybeans. No till organic may work for some people, I had to till the soil into oblivion to control weeds. Moldboard plowing works for burying weed seeds, though! I don't think I'll ever do organic again, though. You try to be honest and do all of the paperwork, but the paperwork proves nothing, and another farmer IIRC sells over a million dollars of non organic crop as organic. Not to mention there's a reason why old ag areas are deserts now, you can't till a field that many times and have it be sustainable. | |
