west-byGod-Pa. | I do not know if you have a steel supplier in your region, but I have a supplier locally I can get stainless from. A piece wide enough can be sheared from sheet stainless, & calculate total length needed for fold-over ends. You can get stainless steel pop rivets, using a vice & a bolt to shape the end. Cobalt drills of proper size for rivets helps. I am fully aware that your location may lack in local supply, but I have done a lot of fabrication using stainless, as I so hate corrosion. I would advise 308 or 316-over 304, as I found 304 to be more vulnerable to cracking than those mentioned. Stainless is difficult to work with & has some quirks, but it is doable. I have not seen fuel tank straps of stainless anywhere-but I have not done a search for them either. Stainless end bolts would finish the job nicely | |
