It seems to be a lot easier to find a bull with good EPD's than to find a good bull that will last awhile.

Yes. Always found it interesting going to some on-farm bull sales with really rough round bales of hay sitting in the pens, all the while knowing the bulls have been on silage and grain since weaning and where creeped while on the cow. The buyers usually get a announcement from the owner or auctioneer with something like "these bulls haven't been pampered at all, raised on grass and hay, they have their working britches on and are ready to go to work on your farm". I know most bull producers are not like this, but a few are.
