Have you ever traveled to a different country? Every one I've traveled in i needed passport and Id. Crossing borders and immigration screening has been intense. Photos, credentials reservation papers of stay, and lots of questions . Never felt it should be any different than that and simply provided all info requested with no issues. Basic and flawless system.
+1 The U.S. Department of State recommends you always carry your passport or a photocopy/photo of it while in a foreign country, as it's your primary proof of citizenship and identity, and some nations legally require foreigners to have it on their person at all times
