If you are a real airplane enthusiast you might want to catch the Evergreen Museum at Hood River, OR. Its about a half hour east of Portland. Not big on military planes but has an incredible collection of civil aviation craft going right back to the Wright Bros. It is super clean and they offer biplane rides most weekends.
