We use peas and oats as cover crop for alfalfa. Not sure what the mixture rate is, but i seed around 75 lbs an acre. We try to take it a little earlier because we don't usually need so much feed and hopefully get it cut before a storm take it down. If it's thick and goes flat, it's not easy to get cut even with a discbine. Plus the ground underneath will not dry until it's cut.
