| farming makes zero economic sense these days, farmers year after year break the 2nd law of thermodynamics. assuming you were tasked with trying to make $540 rent work you need/expect $4 corn @ 240 yield, mine soil of P & K and corn on corn. already got machinery and yahoos to do free labor, so essentially just fuel expense (any break downs occur on "other farms"). $80 for seed, $150 for nitrogen, $30 for insurance, $50 for chem, that gives you $100 fudge factor. no insecticide, no fungicide. maybe figure hope for government money?
but like I say about breaking 2nd law of thermodynamics, the guy doing it will buy high priced toys, new house, new cabin on lake, new pickup, new airplane. I will ask, "how does he do it?" not because i`m nosey, but because I want in on this sweet action too, the answer is a snarky "none of your business!" . those doing it aren`t willing to share their secret, maybe a genie in a bottle? :-) | |
