I didn't watch the first video. Watched the second. 

Here's the Problem that I see. If the Narco regime is as entrenched as he says it is, there will be an insurrection against any perceived U.S. occupation. Any time you cut off a groups power and money they are going to not go quietly. We never "defeated" FARC, we just kind of declared victory and left. We risk leaving another totally failed state and make the situation worse, not better. 

This could very easily become a case of "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." The oil companies operate offshore and don't get bothered and everything is ok. 

I met a guy a few years ago who worked on oil rigs off the coast of Nigeria I think. He said they landed at an airport, were ferried to the rigs, and the platforms had armed guards. They never went to the country for anything and the rigs were self sufficient. If it really is "about the oil" I'd expect a similar thing to happen here.
