NEND | Why do you feel like you need Quickbooks? I have been using Quicken since the DOS days and it serves me well. I feel if you don’t have the need for invoicing, inventory management, or payroll, Quicken does the job of basic income/expense tracking/reporting fine. I even use it for my small payroll. I have developed a spreadsheet to calculate and add up each employee’s deductions and print out two payroll summary stubs for each paycheck. I have a W-2 summary sheet that I send to my accountant. I have memorized transactions for each employee that has all the deductions and transfers to my payroll withholding accounts. As much as I use it, I don’t mind the annual fee (I think it’s about $80 or so, not sure now). I also do our Church accounting with Quicken. I know some accountants require Quickbooks if you want to have them do your taxes from your data. Mine doesn’t. I just do reports and send them a PDF. I am complimented on my reports. I’m sure they still get the shoebox style reporting though, so take that with a grain of salt |
