Subject: RE: turkey or chicken barns

Kalona, IA

Hostetler's told me last June that they had sold 125 cage free egg laying barns already in 2025!! Had about 6 crews building some of them. I built a 15k barn from them back in '13 and installed a new egg Packer from them this fall. Numerous people are now saying there's already a surplus of specialty eggs on the market!! Not what a LOT of new producers are hoping for! It could be disastrous financially for lots of farms!

A new 20k bird barn is around $1.2 mil and many are now being built to hold from 40-80k hens!! Just crazy!! Greed is always self defeating. A surplus of eggs is NOT a way to cash flow payments on a new building and could lead to some outstanding stressful times for a lot of "Plain" people! I experienced a glut of eggs in 2005, and it was NOT a pleasant experience! It's just like when corn or beans make record profits, then comes the surplus and bad times. A yr ago eggs were at all time high, now.......???
