Anything but, as long as you can.
We had quickbooks, now quickbooks online. It gets more complex and clustered up everytime they change something. It use to be simple, now it's a pain all the time.
Gnucash is free, you can download from your bank with some work, and it has reports. It's a step up from spreadsheets.
