Subject: RE: Closing on a farm timeline - additional information

Mazon, IL
There are 5 siblings in the family. Only about 97 acres with 5 going to one and 4 going to another. 86 acres being sold.

As far as I know there is a signed purchase agreement but I haven’t seen it. I’m also not aware of any earnest money put down. No real estate agent was involved. Financing is through farm credit. We’ve been kept in the dark.

I put a spreadsheet together a couple weeks ago to show the breakdown of proceeds, making some generous accounting for unknown closing costs. I’ve heard nothing since.

The family has not hired a lawyer against my suggestion.

This is a centennial farm that we (wife and I) would have liked to stay together and offered to give her portion to do so but the other siblings were unwilling to do so.
