SC Kansas
Thanks for the great question, with no easy, accurate answer. Case in point, an irrigated quarter that we had no water for in 24’. Harvested wheat in 24’ and planted a 6 way cover crop mix that was grazed in late summer/ fall. 25’ corn crop was 50 bushels better then a quarter across the road that had beans in 24’. Fertility is almost identical, variable rate applied on both. Variety that was on the normal rotation quarter was the top hybrid in the plot on the ‘ abnormal’ rotation quarter. Many more questions than answers.
