Phosphate and Potash are treated with some sort of acid to allow them to break down in the soil more quickly. Organic producers can actually buy Rock Potassium and, I believe, Rock Phosphate that hasn't been treated and be OK. It just takes years or longer to break down in the soil to a usable form.
