I have ran it for a long time. Ran RTK before that. I notice no difference when planting. But I cannot imagine cultivating going well on hills unless you have implement guidance/corrections on the planter.
I would agree on the cultivating idea. The best GPS and steering system could keep you on the AB line but due to planter drift on hills, the planter will not always follow the tractor. This is where implement steering on the planter/cultivator might be helpful.
I found this to be true when I tried using auto steer on my combine. I plant with a 24 row planter without any attempt at implement steering.
In soybeans there is enough "excess" on the width of the bean head that planter drift or harvesting parts of two planter passes is acceptable. The head doesn't need to be perfectly centered as long as all rows fit in the head.
When harvesting corn, the combine would follow the planter AB line nicely but this did not always align perfectly with the corn head. Although basically correct, the alignment was not always what I felt it should be. I installed a feeler system that feels the inside of row 3 and row 4. The feelers provide the input to steer the combine.
