I could have worded that better but you missed the point. Sure - the biology has improved. But at the end of the day they have still mined the soil of nutrients because they have not replaced them. If there is fewer nutrients in the soil it is therefore not improved from the standpoint of the nutrients that were mined.

What rate is the geological pool depleting at?

Your point of soil quality related to fertility. It's a valid point. We both can agree that farming in a manner that depletes nutrients to the level that it affects crop production, soil function is bad.

If a farmer improves soil test scores, soil function and soil health metrics is he mining the soil? If so how?
