So you reckon we're done exploring new technologies and energy resources nowadays?
Both sides of the coin are kind of correct.. “it only took” $100 crude or prices doubling.. which was a catalyst of the Great Recession where a lot of businesses failed.. to do it.
but I guess it’s kind of worked.. and the world has survived.. now.. with $50 (viewed as cheap) when back in the 1990s $30 Crude was double what it was before Iraq War #1.
Someday.. we’ll see $200 Crude.. $500 Crude.. etc.. and Civilization will survive.. I guess. But it’s the shock.. Iraq goes into Kuwait.. boom. Prices double.. Russia goes into Ukraine.. boom.. the lights go out in Europe.. etc.
This is a humanitarian thing.. Rubio likes it because his family are Cuban refugees.. and Venezuela was the bargaining chip which Russia secured to put leverage on the US.. and props up Cuba.. read about the Cuban missile Crisis .
It sends oil to Cuba..
Russia.. Putin.. thunked that he and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China..etc) would control all the basic resources.. Crude, Minerals, Labor..etc.. and rule the develop world.. Europe and the US. Which.. hasn’t worked out that way..
Trump has countered.. he looks smart.. (or he’s Putin’s lapdog) by not caring much about Ukraine.. and forcing Europe to step up. “Y’all need to focus more on your own security and less on silly green stuff or y’all will be speaking Russian some day..”. Which maybe they now see..??
Thats why Trump sounds silly.. stupid.. about making Canada the 51st state or annexing Greenland.. or “Running” Venezuela (whatever the heck that means) when all we’ve done is kidnapped their leader.. but done it in an impressive action.. implying “who’s next?”… but maybe there’s a bigger plan.. golly there better be..
The old legacy media.. (which imho includes Fox with their blatant god like worshipping of Trump.. thank god Trump… blah blah blah..) would pound away on “Resource wars” like they did against W Bush.. which led to.. “Bush lied about WMD and Iraq was only about Crude.. and US soldiers died for “Big oil” $$$
which my response is.. “we’ll y’all.. maybe.. but.. we keep y’all fed.” Since the masses don’t know how.. nor where their food comes from (grocery stores?) seems like the stupid public is pretty naive.
The other reason Trump is obsessed with Venezuela is that some 7..8..9.. million people have left for refugees.. and some of them are here in the US.. and we settle this.. maybe they can go home.
But (since I’m on a roll here) the racist Stephen Miller who wants to send them all home.. because he grew up spoiled and pampered in daddy’s (a lawyer) house in LA with idiot “brown skin” servants.. thinks we can do it.. doesn’t have a clue either how production ag works.. and now as we try.. we’re exporting Ag.. see California to China.. instead of exporting walnuts.. etc.. all the crops grown there from California to China and the rest of the third world.. today it’s the opposite.
This board.. doesn’t get it.. worried about tax cuts and $20,000 land.. when the reality is 67% of the world.. India..China.. Latin America.. Africa.. lives in poverty.. on $2 or less per day.. and they work to live.. subsistence.. till they can’t.. then they die. Which is sad. We’re best.. when we lift others up.. with trade.. creating wealth for both us and those like NAFTA.. like GATT.. etc.. unless whom you’re trading with like China.. corners critical processes.. and takes over domination.
So.. Trump is right to try to reshore.. (which I’ve seen no evidence of) and somehow compete 1st world labor vs 3rd world labor.. lol.. good luck with that.. etc.
Venezula is third world cheap Crude.. buried in a third world country.. with third world problems.. which we can bring up.. and trade.. send our Oil companies.. our 6 figure workers down there.. bankers et all.. and make a John Wayne movie.. “Hellfighters” in the process..
and I’d be okay with that.
but this thing may turn into a shooting war.. before we get it all straightened out.
