access to markets. here, cattle is not terrible..40 miles to a salesbarn. can sell them private. Sheep, on the other hand, probably 120 miles to a barn, and i know one other person in the area that raises sheep. Not sure what the market is for sheep that far away, and dont know if the margins allow for that kind of shipping cost.
Are we doing it wrong?
