SW WI | 2 sales around “here” the past year. First one, run down buildings, ridge ground, rock with moderate slopes, half tillable half woods….over $11k an acre. Obviously that farm doesn’t generate enough to stand on its own and pulls way to much juice from other things for me to be serious about it. I had been renting it for 15 years.
Second, very good land. Buildings ….meh…but maybe usable for cattle. 2/3 tillable. Again, over 11k an acre. A friend who had been renting had first chance at it and got a deal done. He too, was lamenting on the $ it would pull from his overall operation. If he was out, I would’ve seen what I could do but wasn’t going to try jump over him.
The $11k acre is over everything, not just tillable.
