Subject: RE: Jd2755

We had a 2155 for a scraper tractor on the Dairy, ran almost everyday from when purchased with around 200 hrs in late'91 until 2019 at 9500 hrs when a piece of a valve broke out and hammered a piston and made some marks in the head. It was in pretty rough overall shape, had multiple leaks, radiator frame rotting out, muffler, 3pt linkage all worn out. Decided not to fix it, replaced it with a nice low hour 1530. Their very similar but I think the 2155 is a little heavier built than the 1530 and it had the TSS Transmission with Hi/LO and Independent PTO where the 1530 is a 2 stage clutch with Collar Shift no HI/LO. Scraper tractor lives a rough life in water and or manure daily. The 2155 had the brakes worked on a few times, they would get stuck on and the shifters had came of the forks and needed lined back up a few times. Other than that it was really pretty reliable. Also have a 2940 with 10,500 hrs, it's had the PTO clutch redone and cracked the suction pipe for the transmission pump once and lost all hydraulics. Needs the rockshaft cylinder gone through, sprays oil inside if you have the control lever all the way back, somewhat common on them. Has had a water pump, muffler, starter, alternator, rebuilt both steering cylinders. Has been a good one, some people bad mouth the Mannheim Tractors but we have gotten along pretty well with them. I do have to agree that the 6000 series is a lot nicer especially comparing Cab to Open station. I like the 6000 series cab better than the Soundgard. Powerquad Trans in the 6000 especially with Left Hand Reverser is night and day difference for loader work and has a wet clutch vs dry on the 2000 series.
