Buhl, ID
I could go on and on. Last summer we were pregging a yearling heifer pen. Vet called one I AI'ed a freemartin. Most dairies would fire the breeder that day but thankfully I've been at this so long with a good reputation, I was able to recheck her to confirm she's not a freemartin. Dairyman said he agrees the quality of checks has gone down with the ultrasound. That heifer has calved and now in the milking string. Pretty good for a freemartin imo.

Another vet I have experience with is a crap shoot. He'll call a cow pregnant 100, next check two months later he calls her open, then two months later 120. How the hell does that happen? I put on a sleeve and just do it myself. I'm not perfect either but this is ridiculous.

But I've also had vets that are spot-on every time. I don't get it.

I've never ran the wand so I hate to criticize but I'm telling you my experience.
