nebraska | This theory is just that. Mother nature always gives you more than you take off. The key word here is availability. Who here uses water soluble soil tests? Just because a mineral test shows you levels of Bray 1 Bray 2 , Base saturation etc, doesn't mean anything other than what is in your savings account pretty much. I have seen many tests that show pH is low, so the Co-op guy says you need 1 or 2 or 3 tons or more of lime. Yet when you look at the Total Nutrient Analysis, it show anywhere from 4000lbs to 15,000 lbs. (yes I have tested farms that high quite frequently) just laying in the dirt. So tell me what would you producers do in this scenario? Have any of you done these types of soil tests? a lot of you don't believe any of what I post, yet you NEVER ask yer "guy" about what these tests are and what they do. Why is that? I have had agronomists tell producers to put on 2-4 tons of lime on, because of a few numbers on the mineral tests. pH, Base Saturation to name a couple. You need to ask him or her "why should I apply that much lime without knowing my reserve....the actual bank account that has already been paid for, decades ago? Also, you've been told to always apply Phosphate every year. Well, by getting the T.N.A test and reading what it is showing you that you have plenty of nutrients already just laying in the dirt? I will share one of many soil tests that we gather. The results are 99.9% huge amounts of nutrients "tied up" Well, tell me how you naysayers "untie" all those paid for input costs? Look at the sample I share, and tell me your dirt is gonna be way different than these results that i am sharing here. The point is this...You producers do not know these things if you do not get the right guy to show you these tests exist. Please lose the argumentative state for just a moment...and ask that "guy" or "gal" why they recommend pouring more on! I'm not the enemy here, so just think about soil health. and not buzzwords like mining or raping the dirt. It ain't soil till it becomes healthy and balanced. Email me, and I will share the soil test results...sorry
