There are alternative PDF readers but never found one yet that didn't gradually get more annoying with adverts and constant updates with no obvious benefit, and would you like the paid version with no adverts?
Best option is to use a browser like chrome or firefox. On a saved PDF right click it and choose open with (browser) and have it always do it.
I assume other browsers like opera or windows thing can do it too. Or should.
