tc806 - 1/3/2026 09:29 Not reading much on here about the black herfords anymore. I'm needing to change bulls in 2 more years and wanting a white faced bull. I'm wanting to know more about them as pink eye, gaining ability, and easy calving. I've had several white faced simmentals half blood angus and got along fine with them. But just try to think of other choices. I have mostly simmental angus cross cows, larg framed. They have all been calved and raised here on my farm.

Hi Tim, Happy New Year!  There is aa breeder not far from you on the IL-IN border that I do business with, Ellis Farms "EF Beef". I've had real good luck with their Hereford bulls. Maybe give them a call and ask questions.

My vet says he sees pink eye more in Angus than in my Herefords. I haven't had a case in many years. Pick a registered bull with a high CED score and you are unlikely to have any calving issues.

Here is a link to their 2025 sale catalog.
