| I've been to a September lockup. Those NASS guys are nerds. They look at the numbers objectively and take their work seriously. They usually finish up pretty early on report day so they can hand off their data to the WAOB guys. If I remember right, they operate on different floors of the same building. Then everyone gathers in a conference room and the report is presented to the chief economist or his designee a little before release time. The CE asks questions about the report and the guys that compiled the data are there to answer them. Nobody leaves the secure area until after release time. It's a very interesting process.
