Virginia, Northern Neck | We run a vintage (1989) Xplorer (yes, correct spelling) on a Dodge B350 (1 ton, single rears, 360 gasoline engine) chassis.
Never had a problem in high winds or on curves.
I cannot speak to the current iteration of Class B, but we find the Class B to be the best option.
We can park it anywhere, from a convenience store, to a truck stop, to a primitive campground.
If we are careful, we (dear wife and I) each get 3 quick showers on a single tank of fresh water, and 3 days of toilet flushes.
We removed all propane appliances, we use a microwave, an electric kettle, an electric frying pan, a 120 volt refrigerator with eutectic ballast, and 120 volt heating and air conditioning, with a 2 kw gasoline generator, piped into the main fuel tank.
We plan to use the Xplorer for the rest of our lives.
There is nothing on that vehicle a good man could not fix in a day.
Your mileage may vary.
If we ever had to replace the Xplorer, I would consider a diesel powered van, with a small diesel generator. | |
