Redwood Falls, MN | Last spring we applied most of our N with the 3-jet streamer tips in a no-till system as well. I was worried about tie-up on residue and did a pre-sidedress nitrate test and it showed I didn't need any more N so it must have been ok considering we had record yields with 145# of N. I don't think you'll see any seedling burn if you do it preplant but I do prefer the 3-jet tips to get more uniform coverage and be closer to where we plant. I like the uniform pattern of a sprayer vs the inconsistency of a spreader with Urea and feel that UAN and ATS are a pretty save form of N when it's cooler in the spring with a higher chance of rainfall. | |
