Malta, Illinois | The plastic gasket issue was on the intake manifold and not the head gasket. There were just a few years where they were an issue. The 3800 was as good of a motor as there was at the time. Early versions before anti-pollution stuff started getting added would routinely get 32 to 34 mpg out on the highway and mid 20's just running around. That was unheard of at the time for cars of that size and an engine of that power. I owned several of those and ran the last one to over 200,000. The body would give out before the engine. | |
