Great job William,,doing very much the same thing here but near zero u-pick.Our population here seems to avoid any u-picking,except apples as its a fall thing.Do you find the farmers markets welcoming? as far as adding farmers to the mix.Here we tried a couple decades ago and us being a dominant supplier they kept us out by votes by already there farmers..did not want competition..
Our farmer's market is welcoming. Not sure if just because of our history there or because we are 1 of very few actual produce farms, so market customers flock to us. A lot of other vendors are doing crafts and then also having large gardens. We are looking into expanding to 1 or 2 more in the coming year, depending on what happens with u-pick side of things. We have seen the fluctuations up and down in u-pick and I feel we are currently on a down trend and need to be at more markets/stands to sell our current production or expand production. |
