Studies have found that about 95% of the herbicidal activity in racemic metolachlor comes from the S-enantiomer.
To achieve the same biological control, you can apply roughly 35% less S-metolachlor
To get the same herbicidal effect as a given amount of racemic metolachlor, you would apply approximately 35% less S-metolachlor by active ingredient.
The cost of S-metolachlor to achieve the same weed control as $30/gal racemic metolachlor is approximately $26 per gallon.
