SW WI | Quite a few years ago on an $8k bill we were between insurance companies. Told them no insurance…..crickets. Then asked if we could scrounge up cash, what kind of discount they could manage….no more than 10%.
I said before……the NAT discounts that other hospitals must give, must not be honored around me….****
And another issue, the sorting out of insurance pay vs client obligations. While waiting for the insurance to review a bill and decide what they are going to cover and at what rate….the billing dept likes to turn up the heat threatening legal action. They hope to strong arm you into paying and then waiting for reimbursement from your carrier. Nope, not happening.
I think former loan sharks for the mob, must’ve taken retirement jobs in the billing department. ***
Hate is a pretty strong word…..but I hate, the health care industry.
