Independence OR | We switched from a traditional 2x2 to the Conceal this year when we upgraded planters. It has knifes on both sides, so a band on each side of the row. As stated it doesn’t go real deep, the deeper you try to go with it the more issues you will have with residue. Ours was around 1 to 1.5 in deep, covered it up nicely. Our Momentum is set up with popup as well. So I spilt the P and ran some in furrow and some with the conceal. We ran around 25 gal/ac with the conceal with no issues a blend of 10-34, 32-0-0, and ATS field depending. We had the best yields we have ever had, so I’m not looking back at this point. However, I was nervous as hell ditching to 2x2. With the Momentum we switched from a Monosem Twin row and I was expecting the yields to be similar slightly less in a single row, but that was not the case. We kept our fertilizer program the same and kept the population high, around 39-40k. We are under irrigation best field averaged 15 bushel over our previous record. So I would not be scared of conceal, for us it was nice to not have that fertilizer coulter bringing up wet soil right in front of the openers.
