Our industry has made some huge strides forward in terms of providing for our creatures that we manage. The need for mineral and protein supplementation is very variable by location so I won’t indict anyone for that. Here our soils are deficient in Cu an Zn two critical minerals for immune function. As for protein the bovine can only do what nature allows her to. By properly balancing a diet we can actually decrease the total dry matter consumption.
