I would have a hard time telling them that it is self pay when in reality it isn’t.
It is self pay. I pay $400 a month to CHM. $4800 a year. $48,000 for 10 years. That money goes into a pot. When medical bills come in, money goes out of the pot. I may never get a dime, or I might receive more than I put in.
They only raise rates when more money is going out than is coming in. They try to keep it equal. Very small percentage goes to administration.
Insurance is similar, except their administration cost is higher and they have to show a profit to shareholders. Insurance companies have a staff that negotiate bills to try to maximize profits for the company, not the insured.
CHM is non-profit and therefore cannot show a profit. |
