A week before I turned 65, I got a nice letter from my Health Insurance company that told me they would be happy to not accept my check for $1,200 every month.
Government run Medicare picked me up with pre-existing conditions, $165 yearly deductible with no limit on lifetime coverage. Part A and a zero deductible supplement cost $300 and change, If there is a smoother and more no hassle way to get health coverage for old folks, I have yet to see it.
Very much a well oiled machine, if you ask me.
