My opinion, this will destroy college sports. College sports will become another professional team, just associated with a college not a city and/or state.
There is no team or school loyalty any longer.
I am a University of Illinois grad. Follow the teams for most sport. Our basketball team is currently made of mostly foreign student (not sure they meet definition of student). There is no illusion that the players will stay at Illinois to finish and graduate. Most will be gone in a year or two.
At some point college sports will become a system of tiers where colleges with rabid rich fans support a semi-pro athletic department with little or no actual connection to the college.
AT that point the fan base will shrink and the program will have to produce to keep the money flowing from the rabid rich.
I don’t donate to Illinois athletic sports program, I send my donations to ACES. Not boosting, just fact.
Not sure how this will end but do think college sports is undergoing radical change and not for the better.
Just my thoughts.

At least now it is out in the open. Do you really think its any different now than 20 years ago? Do you think all these dudes on the bball team gave a rip about ole State U back in the day?
